Electro-Mechanical Field Service Technician II

Job Description

Tripack’s Equipment Division is looking for an experienced and talented Field Service Technician to join our Packaging Equipment Team. This is a customer-facing role primarily traveling to customer sites to manage on-site installation, repair, and maintenance of existing and new equipment in the field. When not traveling to a customer site, this person will participate in the assembly, debug, and calibration of “work in process” equipment builds in house. Ideally, this candidate has electro-mechanical aptitudes, and can think on the fly with great problem-solving skills. Must have good technical knowledge and possess great manual dexterity. Ability to read instructions represented in manuals, drawings, schematics etc. and follow them with precision is extremely important. The goal is to drive service excellence that improves customer satisfaction, will maximize customer retention, and will increase profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support and build positive relationships with Tripack customers
  • Install, setup, maintain, troubleshoot and repair Tripack shrink sleeve systems
  • Demonstrate and provide hands-on training of shrink sleeve systems to customers and associates
  • Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings
  • Perform audits and preventative maintenance programs
  • Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization
  • Read and comprehend engineering drawings or instructions and follow established procedures
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports, including status and condition of installed equipment, as well as identification of any parts or modification opportunities
  • Follow all company’s filed procedures and protocols
  • Travel – 65% on average. Must be at the ready for impromptu travel plans for extended periods (typically 4-5 days on the road)
  • Provide manufacturing and assembly support at Tripack’s manufacturing location when not on a customer site visit (must live within 1.5 hours of Milford, OH)
  • Support Aftermarket group by receiving and responding to customer technical inquiries as needed

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Technical Degree in Electro-Mechanical, or comparable direct job experience working with electro-mechanical or pneumatic equipment preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in field service or 4+years of experience in production maintenance is preferred
  • Certification in Allen Bradley (Rockwell Automation) plc programming is a plus
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair of industrial machinery, including the ability to test, service, and test technical equipment
  • Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to read Mechanical and Electrical CAD drawings, as well as identify industrial machine parts
  • Solid computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as mobile tools and applications
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate with all levels of employees and customers
  • Bi-lingual in (English, Spanish) is a plus
  • Ability to travel
  • Valid Driver’s License

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on some instances this job may require work in areas where ear and/or eye protection is necessary.
